3 days, 3 teachers, 33 children…

“Find a shadow, find it’s corners…

Shadows don’t have corners…”

I hope you enjoy these pictures…

They were taken yesterday at the first ever performances of “Ghost Junction” by a charity I am “Artistic Advisor” to: Rhapsode. Our aim is to bring art, music and drama into the lives of children who might not ordinarily get the opportunity to shine. We have a strict “donation only” policy to make our events accessible to all. Yesterday’s production was created, rehearsed, designed and produced in just three incredibly intensive days. The children ranged from 6 to 15 and worked amazingly hard. The performances took place in the beautiful Quaker Friend’s Meeting House in Letchworth Garden City, which was transformed by the children into a spooky forest. In the story, a group of bickering children become lost. Three ghosts who died in 1953 (Sergei Prokofiev, Hillaire Belloc and Swedish illustrator Elsa Beskow)impart wisdom leading to a happy ending. Actress Jenny Ayres developed the drama together with composer Rebecca Leek, director of Rhapsode, whose vision and energy allowed the children to experience something very special indeed.
