Over the next few months, several exciting celebrations will be taking place to mark 25 years of Katie.
I do hope you will join in the fun where you can!
To begin with, the NEW EDITION of Katie’s Picture Show will shortly be published with NEW ILLUSTRATIONS throughout!
Meanwhile, Reading Zone will host several author sessions, streamed live to schools who sign up. I am lucky to be one of the authors, on June 25th at 10 am. I’ll be drawing and painting and telling tales… and talking about Katie of course! For full details on the timetable and how to watch this LIVE event, visit the website HERE.
There’s more! This summer I have the extraordinary and considerable honour of being ILLUSTRATOR IN RESIDENCE at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. A whole string of events will be taking place, including an illustrated concert of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, performed by a brilliant young pianist; A special Katie’s Picture Show event; Stories from the Arabian Nights, with more live illustrating, a Big Draw event and even a mural in a library! Booking opens on June 24th at 8.30 am. Details and info can be found on their website: www.edbookfest.co.uk.
It doesn’t stop there. There will be a “KATIE” book bench displayed in London throughout the Summer, supporting the National Literacy Trust. The bench will be placed in a most prestigious location: The Tower of London no less! You can click HERE for more info. And here’s a glimpse of the bench!
And on into the Autumn… I’ll be concluding this spectacular sequence of events with a major retrospective exhibition at the NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART in Edinburgh! This will be supported with a programme of storytellings, workshops etc. Details to follow soon, and all information will appear on the website in due course.
Besides this, there will be other visits and bookshop signings throughout the run up to Christmas, to prepare for the brand new Katie book: Katie’s London Christmas. Plus annual concerts with orchestras.
It’s a good thing I like to keep myself busy!
