Two years ago, before the days of COVID-19, I was lucky enough to visit Andalusia. I have always dreamed of visiting the Alhambra … it did not disappoint, and the city of Granada also cast a spell. It’s not often I find myself reduced to tears by architecture so beautiful it takes one’s breath away.

Next September I’ll be leading a course in Children’s Book Creation in the hilltop town of Moclin, 30 minutes from Granada. Here, Andrew Watson and Ian Rutter host a variety of superb courses, as you can see on their website, Granada Concierge.
It promises to be an unforgettable week, with in depth work-shops, masterclasses and tutorials, developing your skills, building your confidence, and drawing on local Spanish folk lore for inspiration. There’ll be Tapas trips to Granada, as well as many beautiful walks in the spectacular countryside, perfect for sketching trips. September is the perfect month to visit this stunning landscape. Andrew (an excellent children’s picture book designer) will be joining me to co-tutor.
Visiting Moclin was one of the highlights of my trip – an authentic, unspoilt town with breathtaking views over the olive groves and mountains, leading down to the Alhambra.
