A Second Katie Trail



Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to create a bespoke trail for the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh, which seems to have gone down well. The National Gallery in London were suitably impressed and so I am now creating a “Katie” trail for the Trafalgar Square gallery. This time I have a co-author, the brilliant Caroline Marcus, who I met during the Take One Picture project at a school in Hitchin. She is a mine of fascinating information and an ideal colleague.

The trail will be launched during the February half term at the National Gallery. Here are some preliminary sketches for it – I’m excited, and I think it’s going to be a lovely thing for children to explore the gallery with.

James is the creator of the much-loved Katie and Ella Bella Ballerina series and has written or illustrated many other books, including Koshka’s Tales, Mouse & Mole (by Joyce Dunbar) and Gaspard the Fox (by Zeb Soanes). Alongside his work in publishing, James performs live on stage during concerts for children, combining live classical music, storytelling and art.
