Fun with Ink and nibs!

I’ve been playing with the new Platinum Mix Free inks! They are beautiful pigments, with names like cyclamen pink and silky purple. And they are wonderfully pure, clear, transparent. They mix easily with the mixing fluid (as you might guess from their name).

A sample set was sent by Pen Heaven for me to try, to whom I am very grateful. I’m an absolute convert. Pen Heaven are currently running a WONDERFUL competition, to win pens and inks. If you like drawing and live in the EU, there is still time to enter! Details HERE!

And what did I do with the Mix-Free inks? Here’s what happened…

Although they are not waterproof, this is a huge advantage in terms if using a fountain pen, as opposed to dip pen. While I have tended to use dip pens with waterproof ink, I recently visited Singapore and bought a beautiful Hero fountain pen with a purposefully shaped nib for easy sketching. It’s a wonderful tool and I love it!

I used dip pens too – I chose the finger-shaped-nib, above, which I’ve never used before, and which flexes beautifully. And I tried freely mixing and diluting the colours, which melted beautifully…

FirebirdFirebirdWell… perhaps I let them melt a little too much. I’m still learning! But I think they are just gorgeous and highly recommend them. I hope you enter the competition – as one of the judges, I can’t wait to see the results!
