Today, November 4th, a major new exhibition opens at the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh. Called, simply, “Come to the Gallery with Katie”, it will show the whole gamut of illustrations created for the Katie series, from the very first pictures to the last. There will be lots of sketchbooks, studies and preliminary drafts on display as well as the biggest number of finished illustrations ever exhibited. What an honour, and what a terrific way to crown a year of Katie celebrations for her 25th anniversary. The exhibition is FREE and runs until March 1st 2015.
But there’s more! To tie in with the exhibition there are lots of activities and events. I’ll be coming up to Edinburgh twice before Christmas to participate.
First of all, in late November, there is a Masterclass, for adults, in book illustration (fully booked!), but in December I’ll be back for a Lunchtime Lecture and a storytelling.
The lecture will take place on December 5th and will cover all my 25 years of working in illustration, discussing in depth my methods, materials, inspiration and my views on the industry and where it is heading. Details to follow soon, but do hold the date.
On December 6th I’ll be in the gallery telling stories and creating upside down pictures. These story tellings are FREE and the details are HERE
On February 20th and 21st there will be an art and puppet workshop, not with me, but based on the Katie books. It looks fabulous. CLICK HERE for information.
