Even a series as old as Katie (28 years!) can continue to surprise. I recently received a bumper pack of books from Hachette, my London publisher. Inside were Chinese editions of 8 Katie Titles. 5 had previously been translated into Mandarin. Now the rest of the series has been added so that all 13 titles are available in China.

This exciting news coincides with two invitations to head East myself. In May I’ll be back in Singapore, to give several talks and masterclasses to the Asian Festival of Children’s Content. Delegates from all over South East Asia will attend, and it will be really lovely to tell them that Katie books are available not just in English, but also Chinese… and Korean and Japanese too! While in Singapore, I hope to collaborate with the National Gallery there. I will also be working in Tanglin Trust school again. It will be a huge pleasure to return, I can’t wait – I shall be there a whole month this time.
Also, later in the year, I have plans to visit China for real – I’ve been invited to a school in Shanghai!
I just hope I have mastered using chopsticks by the time I arrive…
