I wonder how I’m going to make sense of this chaos! I’m surrounded by bits of paper – interesting paper, but all jumbled up. There is glue everywhere, and there are words. Words by Jackie Morris (no less). Words which are beautiful and mystical and magical and rich and strange. I want to do justice to those words… and so the process has begun.

This is a very different process to my usual methods. Usually I’d be drawing, drawing, drawing. Instead I’m cutting, tearing, painting and printmaking. Because it’s a technique I’m now reasonably familiar with from “Mrs Noah’s Pockets”, I hope I’ll find my way more easily than with that first book.
Some skimpy thumbnail sketches are a basic guide, but mostly I want to let the paper speak. Let it find shape and form and meaning. I want it to surprise me and create unexpected worlds. I want a bit on magic…

The book will be called MRS NOAH’S GARDEN, to be published May 2020. I’m scared and excited, and learning to play again. Wish me luck!
