Bursting out of the enchanted woods…A little late for Midsummer, but still full of magic, Ella Bella’s new adventure is now out.
Inspired by Mendelssohn’s music for Shakespeare’s best-loved play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this story sees Ella Bella embrace the world of the fairies as she tries to help Puck restore the love between King Oberon and Queen Titania…
Of course, along the way there are lots of adventures, and Midsummer magic as Bottom becomes transformed by the juice of the flower – “Love in Idleness”.
This book is dedicated to a little fairy princesss I know – Raffi Bowen. We have become great friends through my work at the Cheltenham Music Festival over the years, and I hope she enjoys reading and looking at it as much as I did making it. For with Mendelssohn’s music dancing in my ears, how could I not feel inspired?
Here is the immortal overture, written when young Felix was just 17!
And now… I am just beginning work on the next Ella Bella title… La Boutique Fantasque! or, The Magic Toyshop. This beautiful ballet has wonderful music by Rossini (arranged by Respighi) and is one of my absolute favourites… I will post progress on here over the coming months!
